Project: THE WATCHERS
Year: 2024
Type: Artistic project
Technique: Touchdesigner
The project is an installation that explores the themes of surveillance capitalism described by Shoshana Zuboff in her book. Using a hidden camera at a strategic point, the project captures visual data without people noticing it, illustrating how surveillance is quietly creeping into everyday life. Based on the first chapter of Zuboff’s book, the project highlights, through the use of a camera and artificial intelligence techniques, how personal data is collected, reflecting on the ethical and social implications of this practice.
"THE WATCHERS" addresses crucial issues such as identity, privacy and power. Explore how surveillance affects our perception of ourselves and others, highlighting power asymmetries between individuals and entities that control data. The installation serves as a mirror of our digital society, questioning the dynamics of power and control exercised through surveillance. This project, combining art and technology, opens a critical dialogue on the intersection of human creativity and artificial intelligence, exploring new aesthetic and conceptual frontiers.
Through the use of TouchDesigner to integrate AI and camera, the project provides a powerful visual representation of surveillance and control dynamics. It stimulates a reflection on the perception of surveillance and the importance of being aware of how our data is collected and used, Examining the relationship between humans and emerging technologies, and highlighting the ethical and social implications of using IA.
"THE WATCHERS" not only illustrates the issues of surveillance capitalism, but also invites the public to reflect on their relationship with technology and the protection of their privacy in an increasingly digital world.
